I have ridden many bikes over the years but by far the best in my opinion are the Cervelo’s that were developed as part of the project california development program. I bought this frameset new, I already owned an R5 VWD, I bought the R3 Dark as a spare and as such it stayed packed in it’s original box until 2021, my R5 VWD was sent away for some paint work so I built the R3 Dark using it for approx 3000 summer km’s, I always strip my summer bikes at the end of September and store them until the following April, the R3 Dark didn’t surface again until August 2022 when I built it and used it for 6 days in the mountains around Cuneco, Italy, it performed faultlessly. Now to the build, the frames was built with a brand new Shimano Ultegra 6800 groups, 34/50 chainset and a 30 cassette, the finishing kit is an FSA K Force carbon light seat post, FSA OS 99 carbon stem, FSA carbon bars, Selle Italia SLR flow carbonio. Wheels Roval CLX 40′s, note these had been used oil my R5 VWD and have more km’s on them than the groups however they run smooth, a few spokes have received chips, I had considered refreshing them with respoke but never got round to it. All in all a quality build.
