The Cannondale CAAD13 is generally regarded as being the best Aluminium frame road bike and once you ride one, you’ll realise why! This one has been refined by my local bike shop to improve on the look and functionality. Frame size – Size 54 – I’m 5′ 10 and it’s perfect. Cannondale’s size guide suggest it’s suitable for anyone 170-180cm. If you’re not sure about the correct size for you, check with Cannondale. Summary – Shimano R7000 105 – 11 speed double. What’s been upgraded on this? The other pictures show old wheels, ignore them, I will upload more pics shortly. Bars and stem. Original 44cm bars replaced with Cannondale TWO 42cm bars and a 90mm stem (from 100mm). These subtle changes to the cockpit make a difference. You feel more connected to the bike, and it feels more responsive. NEW KMC gold chain – 11 speed – expensive but worth it to add that extra bit of bling. NEW Shimano 105 – 11-34T cassette. Originally the bike came with a 30T cassette which was ok but lacking when it came to hills. Ride fast on the flat and up even the steepest hill, no problem. NEW R7000 105 Rear derailleur – GS – (the original was a SS mech but a GS is needed fro the 34T cassette). New 52T outer chainring. Made sense to invest in a new chainring as the cassette and chain were being upgraded. Chainset is Cannondale’s own SI/FSA 52/36 – 172.5mm. Shifters, brakes and front mech are the original Shimano R7000 105. NEW Serfas camo bar tape. Very difficult to get hold of this colourway, imported from the US. NEW gear and brake cables fitted. Carbon specific brake pads. Token QR Skewers… WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE… FIZIK SADDLE NOT INCLUDED – this will be replaced with the original unused Prologo saddle. 2x Cinelli Mike Giant Carbon bottle cages NOT INCLUDED. General condition – Overall the frame is in good condition. Please bear in mind, it is NOT brand new, there are some minor scuffs and marks on the frame, mostly around the rear triangle (drive side). Base of drive side crank arm also has a scuff (last picture) Please study the pictures as I have tried to shows these. I have not tried to hide them or cover them up. The frame is Aluminium so paint scuffs don’t make a difference, Aluminium does not rust and there is no structural effect. The pictures are of the actual bike. The pictures form part of the description in conjunction with the written description. The bike has been ridden as a second bike, and not through winter. It’s had an easy life and apart from the few small cosmetic scuffs, is generally a beautiful looking bike especially when the sun makes the paint work sparkle, hence black pearl colour name! If you’ve ridden a CAAD13 before, you know what it’s like, I don’t need to explain. If you’ve never ridden a CAAD13, the best way to describe it is’very smooth’ it’s unlike any other Aluminium frame, it’s as good as some more expensive carbon frames but not as harsh or unforgiving. If you’re unsure why it’s regarded as the’Best’ Aluminium frame, google a few reviews, they all say pretty much the same thing! Use it for racing or longer endurance rides, in fact use it for what ever you want to, this bike can do pretty much anything. Weight – it’s weirdly light! I don’t have an accurate way of weighing it, sorry but Cannondale spec says around 8.5-9kg. It’s basically the same frame! Yes disc brakes may give you slightly better braking performance in a few specific conditions but generally, Shimano R7000 105 rim brakes and groupset is pretty damn good.
