Argos have built some fantastic bike over the years and this example is no exception dating from the early 1990s. It is fitted with a good smattering of Shimano parts from the same period all of which are working well. The paintwork is very clean, with only a few minor marks in places and it’s a lovely sparkly pearlescent with a little green blend between the two main colours. Built from Columbus SLX it will offer excellent ride quality and lots of agility out on the road. The Shimano 600 Tri Colour chainset has a nice pair of Stronglight chainrings that are geared down a little and the drivetrain shifters really well with the 105 levers offering both friction and indexed shifting. There are a few minor scratches on the drive crank arm but other than this every part is essentially mint. The hubs are buttery smooth and the rims although a slightly mismatch in terms of sticker are identically profiles and have hardly been used at all with the break service in immaculate condition. The white hoods have a few marks and the period Bike Ribbon tape looks a little yellowed against the bright white of a fresh Selle Italia Turbo saddle but within a few rides that should begin to bed in! The tires are original equipment so they may need replacing at some point, but the sidewall are still supple and there is tread to wear yet! Overall, it’s a lovely road bike that deserves to ridden in anger once more. Seat Tube (C to T). Top Tube (C to C). 6 2″ – 6 6″. Shimano 600 Tri Colour 175mm. Shimano 600 Tri Colour RD-6400. Cinelli Giro D’Italia 64-42. White Selle Italia Turbo. SR Laprade 27.0mm. Mavic SUP / Open Pro 700c. Shimano 600 Tri Colour. Shimano 7 Speed Hyperglide.
