A very rare find! This is a classic 1987 Panasonic DX-5000 racing road bike with a frame production date of April, 1987. This is Panasonic’s top, pro-level production racing bike. Paint from Panasonic with hot pink graphics. Masterfully handcrafted lugged Tange 1 chromoly steel frame with mostly Shimano 600 running gear. Hard-to-find small 50cm size frame. Weighs just 22.6 lbs as shown. The bike was just professionally refurbished to a high standard, tuned, detailed and ready to ride. The frame paint/chrome has been polished out to a like-new luster, components removed and cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner and rebuilt for the reconditioning work. Over 12 hours of labor spent on getting the bike ready. Kenda K32 700c x 23 classic-spec skinwall tires. Kenda presta valve inner tubes. Brake cables and housings (correct clear tubing). Shifter cables and housings (correct clear tubing). Frame: Tange 1 lugged double-butted steel w/ investment cast forged dropouts. Tange cr-mo steel w/ investment cast forged dropouts. Front derailleur: Shimano 600. Shimano 600 downtube indexed. Crankset: Shimano 600 165mm length, 52/42 chainrings. Rear Cassette: Shimano 600 6 speed. Brake Calipers: Shimano 600. Wheel set: 700C Matrix black anodized clinchers. Tires: NEW Kenda K32 skinwall 700 x 23c. Seat Post: Sugino fluted alloy. Saddle: Vetta black (Italy). Pedals : Shimano 600 with toe clips (no straps). 50cm (from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube). 53.5cm (top tube center-to-center). 29.5 (top tube stand over height). Based on the above geometry, the bike would be ideal for cyclists 5’2″ – 5’7″ in height. The original paint is in immaculate condition showing some light abrasions (carefully re-touched with matching enamel). Minor scuffs on the saddle and small tear on the left (front) brake lever rubber hood. The frame is 100% straight – NO bends or cracks. There is one small indent on the left side of the top tube (See close-up pic – a push broom stick accidentally fell over on it) – it’s strictly cosmetic, does not affect structural integrity in any way. The bike is tight, fast, smooth, quiet and handles like it’s on rails. This one has been professionally serviced and is ready to go.
