I’d like to find a good home for my much-loved Chinook. She’s was being ridden less and less: originally a Summer bike, then only a “holiday abroad” bike, and this season, with lockdown only just easing, she has not been ridden at all. So I’m reluctantly putting her up for sale. I hope you can see from the photos that the bike is in sparkling condition, not only the beautiful titanium frame, but even the groupset is clean. The frame decals are still factory fresh. In preparation for her latest trip last Summer, she’s had a new chain and cassette, and new brake blocks all round. After the trip, the rear brake calliper was replaced with a brand new Ultegra 6800 item. For sale, I’ve given her a thorough degrease, wash and polish. Everything is in excellent working order, as you would expect, with no service items that I’m aware of. Van Nicholas originally marketed the Chinook as a sprinters’ bike, but she is actually really comfortable, with plenty of the famed titanium “spring”; the carbon bars and seatpost complement this. In this high-spec, lightweight build, she also flies up the hills. While a triple is supposedly less fashionable these days, the gearing has a low enough bottom end for getting up the big climbs of the Alps or the Dolomites even on a bad day! , has a high enough top end for 50mph, and yet has close enough ratios to maintain a smooth cadence (what I would do for a 16T cog on my other bikes). As pictured, the bike weighs 7.8kg. Detailed spec as follows. Frame : Van Nicholas Chinook 52cm 3AL/2.5V Titanium, 2013. Fork : Van Nicholas VNT SLR Carbon. Headset : Hope External, Blue. Seat Tube C-T : 520. Seat Tube C-C : 485. (All measurements in mm/degrees). I’m afraid I’m only able to offer (socially-distanced) collection in person at this time, from Hemel Hempstead. To a fellow cyclist! In any case, many thanks for your interest. The item “Van Nicholas Chinook 52cm Titanium, Shimano Ultegra Hope Easton, Dura-Ace Wheels” is in sale since Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
