The rear hydraulic disc break was replaced by Shimano as the original had a fault and seized up, this was replaced in August 2018 and has only done about 20 miles since. The bike is in good condition and rides well. The part just helps the wire for the gear shifter sit in it channel and run smoothly when changing gear. All in all its a great bike, responsive, light and fast, I’m going to miss it but its better off with someone who will use it, rather than sat being unused. I will happily post the bike via courier (and wrap it in bubble wrap) for an additional charge, please message me directly if you would like to discuss this option. Fitted with genuine Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and matching Shimano 105 gearing, the Suffolk is Whyte’s top of the range RD7 (road disc) bike. Shimano BR-785 hydraulic disc brakes have a growing reputation for delivering the industry-leading performance and reliability we have come to rely on from high-end Shimano components. Chainstay disc brake mounts. The disc brake is chainstay-mounted, rather than conventional seatstay-mounted. This innovation enables Whyte to build a more comfortable frame, courtesy of its slimmer, more vertically compliant seat stays. Full mudguard and rack compatibility means a Whyte RD7 bike could easily double as a fast touring / commuting / everyday bike. Whyte deep section rims are lightweight, strong and contribute to the bicycle’s authentic road bike looks. The rear wheel’s offset spoke hole design effectively equalises spoke tension on both sides to create a stronger rear wheel, whose lateral stiffness you’ll appreciate every time you accelerate. When we talk about a bicycle’s geometry, we’re talking about the angles and measurements that determine where the rider is positioned between the wheels, and how the bike connects with the ground. More than the components or the frame material, a bike’s geometry defines the way it rides. It’s the key factor that sets Whyte apart from the competition. Whyte have developed their progressive geometry over 15 years. Their frames combine a relaxed head angle with a longer than average front centre to create a bike that is stable at speed and feels predictable, especially when the terrain gets steeper. At the back of the bike, the chainstays are as short as possible to maximise the bike’s agility. Combining all these factors make for a bicycle that inspires confidence whether you’re a pro level rider or an absolute beginner. Every Whyte aluminium frame is built with custom drawn tubes. This means that Whyte go to the expense of spec’ing a different tube set for each frame size. This means that a butted tubeset will have to be designed around the smallest frame size. Say the smallest frame size is 16. When the tubes are cut to size, they will have a short thicker-walled section at each end as you would expect from butted tubes. When the same tube set is used to create a 21 frame a much larger proportion of the tube will be thick walled. Thats why large frames are often disproportionately heavier than they need be. Custom tubing is Whyte’s guarantee that the frame will be as light as possible in every size. Whyte RD7 Road Disc Bike Overview. The Whyte Suffolk combines road bike-like speed potential with disc brake low-maintenance reliability. Full mudguard and rack compatibility means that an RD7 Road Disc Bike could easily double as a fast touring / commuting / everyday bicycle. The Whyte Suffolk therefore offers much of the versatility that makes cross bikes so attractive. The RD7 Road Disc Bike difference is that Whyte have built the frame to classic road bike geometry (72.5-73 degree head angle and 73-74 seat tube angle) to create a bike with the fast-steering agility and acceleration potential of a true road bike. Furthermore, Whyte have equipped the Suffolk with faster, slicker 700×28 tyres than you’ll find on most cross bikes. It’s an open secret that the majority of riders initially attracted by the cross bike’s versatility swap the bike’s original semi-knobbly tyres for slicker, faster rubber. 6061 Hydro Formed T6 Aluminium, Custom Drawn, Multi Butted with Internal Cable Routing with DOX, Flat Mount 160 Chainstay Disc mount.
